About the Lincoln Sky Knights RC Flying Club

The Lincoln Sky Knights (LSK) is Lincoln's premier powered RC flying club and RC flying field. 

Our members and visitors enjoy one of the best flying sites you'll find anywhere, located just outside of Lincoln, near Waverly, Nebraska. Our site features a 40'x400' paved runway, a 80'x400' grass runway with underground sprinklers, and a pond for float planes. For pilot comfort, we boast a club house, sun shelters, paved pits, on site refreshments and plenty of parking.

LSK hosts numerous events and programs throughout the year. Events include social gatherings, static displays, off site demos and competitions. Competitions change slightly year to year, but often include a scale/builder contest, aerobatic contests, night fly, combat and more. LSK offers youth programs which bring the excitement of aviation to our next generation of engineers and scientists. For new members, LSK offers a free training program. LSK also provides free "hands on" flights to the general public Tuesday evenings during the summer, which is the perfect way to experience the excitement of model aviation for free!

LSK is one of Nebraska's first RC clubs, and has been a chartered Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) club since the 1950's. We have over 100 members, both gentleman and lady, of all ages and all walks of life. LSK is a private club and our flying site is private property. Visitors are welcome any time members are present. Visitors with valid AMA may fly without LSK club membership on three days throughout a calendar year, not including sanctioned events.

We'd enjoy meeting you, answering any questions, etc. The best times to find members at the field are pleasant evenings or weekends with low to moderate winds.

A Note to Visitors, New Members and Novice Pilots: Feel free to browse our web site. You will find a lot of good information that will start you in the right direction. Online we offer a Novice RC Guide with a lot of helpful information on everything including tips on purchasing your first plane, Frequently Asked Questions, and flight procedures. There is also a list of instructors you can contact for help on building, setup and flight training (you can also attend the free Tuesday night training.). All of our instructors offer help and flying lessons at no charge to LSK members.

A Note to Visiting Pilots: Thanks for visiting our web site. LSK extends a warm welcome! Part of what makes this hobby great are the wonderful and interesting people you meet at other clubs. You are invited to attend any of our events listed on the event calendar. You may also visit and fly at our field at any time as long as a LSK member is present. Like most clubs, we limit the non-event visits to three a year without membership. Because we are an AMA sanctioned club, visiting pilots must have valid AMA membership to fly. If your club is hosting an upcoming event, we would be happy to post the event notification in our club house and newsletter. Please visit the contacts page for more information.

A Note to LSK Members: Thanks to all that have opted to receive the newsletter via email. You have made the editor happy not to mention you have saved the club some real money. Help the webmaster keep the LSK site fresh and up to date.  Send in your event flyers and pictures along with a note about when and where the photos were taken! Remember to also send a copy to the newsletter editor. On that note, most LSK events have a online flyer in PDF format. Print a few and hand them out when visiting neighbor clubs!
